The "Projet d'Accès aux Marchés des Produits Agroalimentaires et du Terroir" (PAMPAT) aims to improve the performance, market access and socio-economic conditions of two agricultural value chains in Morocco: the Argan Oil sector and the Prickly Pear sector in Ait Baâmrane. The PAMPAT project was launched in September 2013. The project budget is CHF 3 587 782. The donor proposed in 2014 to carry out a mid-term review to define respective adjustments and to consider an extension of the project. This extension was effectively decided until September 2019. At the same occasion the Moroccan administration asked to suspend outputs 1.1 and 2.1. This request has been validated. The project work done before that time had essentially boosted both value chains. After this decision, PAMPAT no longer intervened on these outputs. In the cactus value chain, the operation of the packaging unit was blocked due to diverging interests. Various meetings at between ADA and the Director of Swiss Cooperation finally led to the establishment of a monitoring committee involving several administrations present in the field and chaired by the Governor of Sidi Ifni. As a result, the unit operated in 2018, but well below the required capacity.
