This position is located in the Evaluation Office (EO) in New York, which conducts global evaluations of strategic significance to the organization and oversees UNICEF's evaluation function, steering the development of evaluation policy, strategy and systems, including evaluation quality assurance processes. In addition, the EO undertakes methodological work to address evaluation challenges encountered by UNICEF and partners, drawing on international best practice and is committed to investing in methods and tools that deliver credible and timely evaluations

The Evaluation Specialist (P4) will report to Senior Evaluation Specialist (P5) under the overall guidance of the Director of Evaluation and in collaboration with other Evaluation Specialists.

The Evaluation Specialist is responsible for managing the evaluation portfolio related to global water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) activities. The scope of work covers primary evaluations but may also include high priority research (studies and surveys) that draw on the same skills.  The results of the specialist's work will be critical for measuring the outcome and impacts of UNICEF's WASH investments, particularly in sub-areas, where UNICEF is taking a global leadership role.  The results obtained will be considered by UNICEF and partners when determining strategic investment to reach SDG and other global WASH.
