Overview

The project ``Environmentally sound management and disposal of PCBs wastes and PCB-contaminated equipment in Sri Lanka`` was funded by the GEF with $4,725m and implemented by UNIDO from January 2016 to March 2024. The Ministry of Mahaweli Development and Environment of Sri Lanka served as the national executing agency for the project. The main objective of the project was to establish a polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) management system in Sri Lanka to reduce and eliminate the release of PCBs from waste stockpiles and equipment in an environmentally sound manner. The purpose of this terminal evaluation is to ensure accountability, support results-based management, and facilitate learning and innovation. The evaluation aims at providing valuable information to UNIDO management and various stakeholders and contributing to evidence-based decision-making.
