This evaluation assessed the European Union funded project, Establishing a Sustainable National Information and Early Warning System on Food Security in Timor-Leste. It found that the project is fully aligned with Timor-Leste’s main national development strategies, FAO’s strategic objectives, UNDAF strategy and the European Union policy framework for food security. The project has established a well-designed and efficient information system, which adequately addresses the specific needs and context of the Government. Despite some limitations, information provided by the project is already influencing decision-making at the policy level. However, insufficient funds and inadequate institutional decisions could jeopardize sustainability of the achievements of the project. It concluded that continuous provision of technical assistance, a comprehensive capacity development and exit plan would enable the project to make greater contributions to food security information system in the country.
