At the recommendation of the Member State mechanism on substandard and falsified medical products during its eleventh meeting in 2022, the Seventy-sixth World Health Assembly requested the WHO Director-General to conduct an independent evaluation of the mechanism. Guided by the terms of reference developed by the mechanism’s Steering Committee, the evaluation assesses the mechanism's progress in achieving its objectives since the 2017 review up to the end of 2023. Additionally, the evaluation seeks to provide lessons learned and offer recommendations to inform the mechanism’s future strategic direction and enhance its ways of working.
