Overview
Evaluation of a global UNDA Covid-19 project aimed at enhancing the resilience of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in developing countries and economies in transition, especially in the wake of the global COVID-19 crisis. The project was led by UNCTAD and implemented together with UNECE, UNECA, UNESCAP, UNECLAC, UNESCWA and UNDESA. The COVID-19 crisis plunged the global economy into a deep recession and micro, small and medium enterprises were amongst the hardest hit, with decreased liquidity or cash flow availability, decreased demand for products and services, and decreased supply of inputs. The project developed and implemented capacity-building tools for governments and MSMEs to facilitate the resurgence and strengthen the resilience of MSMEs in developing countries and economies in transition. These sought to mitigate the economic and social impact of the global COVID-19 crisis and to facilitate the contribution of MSMEs to SDG implementation.
