Overview
This report represents the results of the evaluation of the World Intellectual Property Organization’s (WIPO’s) Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific. The ASPAC Bureau is responsible for providing legal and technical assistance to 38 countries, comprised of 25 developing countries and 13 LDCs in the Asia Pacific region, with the objective of making IP work for sustainable development.Finding 1 – The ASPAC Bureau approach addresses the full range of needs and priorities of Member States: awareness of IP, IP frameworks and systems; awareness of protections for IP; skills in compliance with international IP frameworks; skills in how to provide assistance to users of national and international IP frameworks and systems.The project-focused approach of the ASPAC Bureau – is well-understood and well supported by stakeholders, who indicate that it contributes to an objective understanding of directions of development for national IP systems and frameworks. The evaluation was conducted between May and October of 2018.
