Join us at the HLPF 2022 Energy Side Event: Closing the Gap - Tuesday 12 July, 1:00-2:30pm EDT

Dear Colleagues,

We are delighted to invite you to our forthcoming discussion ‘Closing the gap: how can access to renewable energy support sustainable and equitable COVID-19 recovery in Africa?’. The event, happening in the margins of the 2022 High-Level Political Forum, is hosted by the Permanent Mission of Nigeria to the United Nations, with the support of the Independent Evaluation Office (IEO) of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Building on the IEO’s recent evaluation of UNDP’s support to energy access, the panel will interrogate means of ensuring sustainable energy supply in Africa. They will discuss options and present current examples that support schools, households, and other community services. Discussion will focus on national and pan-African interventions, strategies and partnerships for closing the energy gap in Africa in a sustainable and equitable way.
