Purpose: In 2014 UNICEF supported the ministry of health with the development of a national Infant and young child feeding and essential care in Suriname Communication strategy (IYCF+), which has since been implemented by the ministry of Health (BOG) with the support of UNICEF. The purpose of the evaluation is to assess the level of implementation and the results achieved so far. Furthermore, the identify the major bottlenecks and recommendations for the way forward.
Method: The evaluation team will rely on mixed-methods and triangulate data obtained. Thus, it is expected that the team will use the following methods: Field observations; Key informant interviews; Qualitative baseline interviews; Quantitative beneficiary surveys (Women’s and care givers) and Data analysis and documentary research. The evaluation will be conducted by working closely with the key officials of the Bureau for Public Health (BOG) Ministry of Health. This evaluation is qualitative and quantitative, and the consultant will conduct a literature and desk review and design, conduct, and analyze participatory In-Depth Interviews (IDIs) and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with duty bearers, mothers, health workers, community members, NGO’s. Data will be collected from Health workers, health clinics, hospitals, communities, other key stakeholders of the Ministry of Health
