As a mitigation to prevent stunting, the Government of Botswana introduced the Vulnerable Group Feeding Programme in the early 1990s. Originally, the programme targeted malnourished children and medically-selected maternal beneficiaries. Over time, the programme was extended to cover all children aged 6 to 59 months as a preventive measure, while continuing to cover medically selected pregnant women and mothers, as well as tuberculosis (TB) patients.
The purpose of the assessment is to evaluate effectiveness and efficiency of the supplementary feeding program using Tsabana/Maluti in the country.
