Members of literacy groups (Home Visitors) have undertaken home visits to
households (HHs) in their project areas. The following are the objectives of
their interventions:
1. To share information/ messages with regard to early childhood development
(ECD) and child health through home visits
2. To demonstrate and build skills for play and stimulation during home visits
3. To link with other role-players for child health in the area
4. To add new households on an ongoing basis, especially those with vulnerable
children
The Home Visitors have learned a set of key family practices, which are
designed to improve child health. They shared these messages during visits to
their neighbours’ homes.
This evaluation sought to find out whether the health messages have been
effectively shared and implemented in the households which the Home Visitors
had visited. Some information about the ECD activities was also collected,
although this was not the focus of the evaluation.
