The objective of the BEHTRUWC Project Phase II is to identify and then support
urban working children through providing quality non-formal basic literacy,
numeracy and life skills training over 5 consecutive 8 month cycles with an
increasing emphasis as they grow older upon livelihood and technical skills, so
enhancing the life opportunities of these marginalised children. Implementation
is through 20 carefully selected NGOs in the 6 divisional cities of Bangladesh.
Of the original 200,000 beneficiaries 20,000 were also intended to also access
livelihood skills.
