The current evaluation will assess the implementation and results of the organisation’s Gender Action Plans: GAP 1 (2014-2017) and GAP II (2018-2021). The evaluation is the first corporate evaluation of UNICEF’s work on gender since 2008. Gender is one of two key cross-cutting priorities in UNICEF’s Strategic Plan 2018-2021 and 2014-2017. The evaluation’s primary objective is to contribute to improving the organization’s accountability for its performance and results on gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls. Its secondary objective is to generate evidence and learning to guide effective action towards strengthening gender equality in programmes and systems.
