The general objective of this evaluation was to review the implementation of
IMCI approach and methodology with a view to identifying ways to strengthen and
sustain IMCI implementation as a main strategy to improve the quality of care
for children in Somaliland.
The specific objectives were:
-To provide an in-depth analysis of strengths and constraints of IMCI
implementation in Somaliland;
-To assess the possible impact of IMCI, including assessment of the process,
procedures and guidelines introduced so far;
-To make recommendations for improving IMCI implementation in Somaliland
including priority actions to be taken at all levels (National, Regional and
district); To review feasibility of implementing IMCI in North East and Central
South Zones in order to benefit all Somali children.
