Adolescents and youth (10-24) constitute a large part of the Ethiopian population. This age is a window of opportunity for growth next to the first one thousand days. They are affected by malnutrition particularly adolescent girls especially when it comes to pregnant girls. In addition, adolescents are affected by poverty due to unemployment. This is even more aggravated with the migration of adolescents from rural to urban areas. Girls mostly loose their chances of realizing their full potential because of the barriers they face at an early age. Some of which being early marriage, dropping out of school, their blossoming sexuality making them the talk of the community and so. In order to alleviate these challenges UNICEF, in collaboration with Global Affairs Canada, plans to implement an innovative project to improve the health and nutrition status of adolescent girls in Ethiopia. Hence the purpose of this evaluation is to design and undertake a baseline analysis of the initial health and nutrition status of adolescents before the start of the project, a mid-term survey to provide recommendations for program implementing decisions, and an end line survey to assess overall impact.
