Climate risks, including climate change and disasters, significantly threaten the achievement of SDGs in Southeast Asia, especially concerning poverty alleviation by 2030. Vulnerable communities face recurring shocks that jeopardize children's well-being, highlighting the urgent need for risk-informed social protection. Traditional short-term humanitarian approaches are insufficient, necessitating a shift towards coherent climate risk management to tackle the root causes of vulnerability.
This evaluation aims to assess the project "Scaling up Anticipatory Action and Shock Responsive Social Protection" from July 2022 to March 2024, focusing on its implementation in Indonesia and Cambodia. By examining its relevance, effectiveness, and sustainability, the evaluation seeks to identify challenges, successes, and lessons learned to enhance future programs. The findings will inform stakeholders, including UNICEF and national governments, to develop integrated strategies for disaster risk management and social protection, ultimately benefiting vulnerable populations in the region.
